Now, you all have played the Halo games.  You've all probably played through the Campaign, and spent a good amount of time in the muiltiplayer.  But, if you're like me, you most likely spent twice that time in the mode we all know as "Forge".  Yet, this is not necessarily because we like the mode, it's probably because Forge is just so time consuming.  There's no working copy-paste tool, small blocks, and, if you're in Halo 3, a lot of bugs.  The controls are clumsy, and to make something that looks good (which is already hard to do), you have to waist hour after hour, placing one puny block at a time, and spend an extra 5 minutes making the floors line up.  Heck, Forge isn't just time consuming, it's a relentless monstrosity of a tool that wants nothing more than to take every last bit of time you have and devour it un-apologetically.

There's Still Hope

No, I don't hate it.  I just don't like it.  Granted, Reach's forge had improvements, but not to the scale I was hoping for.  Someone needs to fix this, and that someone is 343i.  They tried to make a few amends, adding in "magnets", and "duplicating", but it wasn't enough.  Many of us want to make maps that are as immersive and detailed as the ones professionally made by the developers. Now, I'm not saying we need a professional rendering program like 3ds Max (AGH! The complexity!!), but just something less simple than, "Here's some blocks, make a map". I'm thinking placeable A.I., nameable zones, terrain editing, custom pieces, all that good stuff. What's that? You think placing A.I. is "impossible"? Well, let's look at Far Cry 3:

Not so "impossible" is it?  It would be amazing if Forge allowed you to plot courses for the A.I., or make it even more in depth.  Let's say, you want a Phantom to come over a tall rock and drop of a Jackal Sniper team.  But not just any sniper team.  You, the perfectionist that you are, want three snipers, one with a Carbine and two with a Beam Rifle.  You want Mr. Carbine to shoot at marines, while the Beam Rifle duo engage the player.  It seems complicated, but it can be made easy if you are supplied the needed tools.  What those tools are I don't know, but you can help me out in the comments.

Nameable Zones

Chances are, you did not understand what I meant by this.  I bet you're thinking right now, "This 'Sean' guy is a nutcase!  He's talking about stuff that doesn't even exist!  HA!".  Well, load up any Halo game 2-and-up, play muiltiplayer, and look just below you're compass.  You will see multiple names appear for different "zones".  I used the map "Cage" from Reach, here.  Imagine being able to to designate certain areas with names.  Imagine how much easier it would be in maps like "Cage", when instead of saying, "He's is the big courtyard thingy", you'll be saying, "He's in the Upper Cage."

Main Idea

I'm running out of time here, so let me summarize.  There are so many possibilities.  From textured blocks, to custom skyboxes, the possibilities are endless.  What would you change?  Tell me in the comments.  I leave you with some idea pics for inspiration.
