A breach of programming.

The Huragok are machines, created and programmed by the Forerunner. However their programming is presumably so complex that they ascend to a state of "self-awareness". So where else has this "self-aware" system been implemented by the Forerunner?

We know that the Huragok do not usually let this self-awareness interfere with their programming's goal, in this case, the repair, keep and study of (not entirely exclusively) Forerunner artifacts. However, in some cases, this heightened sense of existence has caused the Huragok to "take sides", most notably in the form of Lighter than Some killing Henry Gibson aboard the This End Up.

We also know that these times of extreme discrimination and violence among Huragok have only happened when a spur has ac…

Forerunner, but not holy

"THIS IS NOT RECLAMATION, THIS IS RECLAIMER, AND THOSE IT REPRESENTS ARE MY MAKERS" - 032 Mendicant Bias

This quote singlehandedly guaranteed the mass genocide of Humankind, for the Covenant must be upheld, and the Prophet's position as holy interpreters must prosper. But by putting together the pieces of certain words spoken by the Hierarchs themselves, one will see that the need to dismiss Humanity as completely unrelated to the Forerunner was not entirely necessary, that the to-be Hierarchs could have fashioned a much more intricate lie. Another quote proves this assumption.

"Soon the Great Journey shall begin, but when it does, the weight of your heresy will stay your feet" - Prophet fo Truth

In saying this, Truth guarantees two things; N…

Why can't we be friends?

The Covenant absorbed every other intelligent species that they came across up until humans, why, because of the Forerunners mark upon humanity, and because of the ignorance of the High Prophets. But, if they had absorbed humans just like the Jiralhanae, if the Rubble's inhabitants had somehow made a treaty(of course I do know this is impossible, but I am only stating myself in theory), or if some other alliance was made and we joined the fold of the Covenant, what would have happened? I can't help but wonder this, I'm sure that at least one person who will read this text has had the same idea, and maybe even voiced it before. Would humans simply go on to assimilate other members of other species and fight along side the classic enemies we…

Technogical Advances

"The Covenant are imitative, not innovative."

The Covenant are a super advanced collection of extra-terrestrial beings who believe that a race of Highly intelligent "Forerunners" went on a great journey over a hundred thousand years ago and that, by activating the Sacred Halo rings, they too will be able to embark on this Great Journey. The Covenant's technology is centuries ahead of any Human accomplishments, but they would not have been able to reach that point if not for the Forerunners(and by extension, the Precursors) laying the seeds(in the form of ancient ruins of Forerunner constructs and technology) for their empire. If the Covenant(or more specifically the Prophets) had not discovered, and dissected, Forerunner relics, they would …
