In 2003 the official novelization of Halo: Combat Evolved was released. The book was called "Halo: The Flood" and was written by William C. Dietz. While the book has many flaws, it did a marvelous job on expanding the very simple story of Halo 1. Before Halo: The Flood we didn't know anything about Alpha base or Zuka 'Zamamee's vendetta against John 117. It explored the Covenant's side of the story and made them seem less like a bunch of aliens who left supply crates like crazy.
What i'm trying to say within this blog is that I think that both Halo 2 and Halo 3 deserve a novelization as well. Some Halo fans might think that this would just be a sleazy way of vacuuming money out of their pockets. Well I think that these book could tell the story that both of the games could never tell. Let's start with Halo 2.
Halo 2[]
One of my major complaints about Halo 2 was the lack of time you spend on Earth. Maybe the author could merge the story of Halo 3: ODST(and/or an additional story set on Earth) into the book to create a longer time spent on Earth in the book. The novel could also go deeper into the Great Schism. Maybe the Elites would begin to question the Prophet of Truth if he told them they had to have a Human activate the Halo Array to start the Great journey. So maybe that's why he wanted to start a genocide on their species and replace them with the Brutes . He could possibly have told the Brutes in Halo 3: ODST to kill all of the remaining Elites in New Mombasa. This would link the Halo 2 and the Halo 3: ODST story together.
Halo 3[]
The novel of Halo 3 should give the prophet of Truth a bigger role throughout story. Because in Halo 3 you don't get to see what is happening to Truth behind the scenes. Which leaves many questions about his personality, stoic nature seen in Halo 2 gone or whether or not he still believes in the Great journey. I also think the battle set in space above the Ark should be a big part of the story.
