Hello. This is a serious petition campaigning to abolish the points system on Halopedia.

There have been many people arguing the pros and cons of the points system since it was implemented, but I'm not going to repeat them all. The main argument in favour of the points system is that it encourages users to edit. This is true to an extent, but before they were implemented, there was no such thing as so-called "point-whoring" and there were not unnecessary edits, as there was no point in making them.

People used to edit Halopedia to improve the site and share their passion for a great game series. Now, we jostle for bragging rights over who has the most points.

This is not what Halopedia is, or ever was, about. I have spoken to DNL (DanL) about this, he says that it is entirely possible to remove the point system without altering the rest of the wiki.

  22. I highly resent worthless features on encyclopedias, which distract the main purpose of this site. Unfortunately, the points system (as well as its other new features) falls under that category. Destroy the points system asap. This is supposed to be the best place where anyone with Internet access can find information about Halo.   74. MASTER R0ACH oK I signed, but I only want to get rid of the points. The ranks should be based on edit count, not point(which really is the same thing)
