The Salvage Directive is a regulation enforced by the Unified Earth Government in regards to salvage rights. The directive allows for civilian salvage crews to recover and sell small arms to markets, with the UNSC having the right to buy them back. Nuclear weapons and other heavy ordnance are not permitted for recovery. Instead, salvage crews are to report them to the UNSC, who will compensate them for their find.[1]
