Advantages
Edit
The Beam Rifle is a sniper weapon and as such can be used at long range with relative ease. The weapon has a 5x and 10x zoom that allows it to see across most multiplayer maps. The Type-27 has more aim assist than any other sniper in the entire Halo series. The Beam Rifle can be used as a DMR, easily getting Snapshots. The relative ease of using this weapon allows even new players to learn sniping. The Beam Rifle takes longer to overheat than its previous version.
Disadvantages
Edit
The Beam Rifle is less useful at range compared to its human counterpart, being better off at medium range to make use of its unzoomed aim assist. The Beam Rifle only contains 10 shots in both Campaign and Multiplayer, and takes two body shots to kill. If two to three shots are fired consecutively, it will overheat and shut down, rendering it temporarily useless.
Gameplay
Edit
The new incarnation of the Beam Rifle is slightly weaker than its predecessor, but has a faster rate of fire and is slower to overheat. It can be seen used by Covenant Jackal Snipers.
