ok, then, whats a beast?
A tend to think of it as a beast is a creature that either has none or has forsaken its ability to reason, be compasionate, or stay its hand.
Remember when I said I found a shield world with millions of dormin forerunners still alive in it? weal after months of debate what to do with it, and contact made with their computer stored conciosnesses, I finally made up my mind what to do about it. Yesterday, I sent a team into the core of the shield world, and blew it up.
Why did you blow it up? What did you find out about the shield world and its inhabitants that prompted you to such action?
Weal, before they sealed them selves to escape the firing of the rings they have committed horridus crimes againced many other sentient beings for hundreds of thousands of years, their memories consisted of large quantities of it. My original plan was just to set a watch at the shield world to keep them contained and content, but after much study I found that something had opened up a broadcast to the "reclaimers", and eventually humanity would arrive and in their ignorant inexperienced stupidity, they would release them.
You remember how dangeros just one forerunner was?
Even 0 forerunners has demonstrated great devastation capabilities as the guardians have devastated many home worlds already, many almost destroyed, just to marshal them back under total subjection.
Rather then having the unsc fight and many die on both sides until eventually my forces are out numbered and they are released, I wanted to insure they will not go back to doing what they did a few hundred thousand years ago, with out additional life loss aside from just them.
Rather then take the risk of great misery coming to the galaxy because they are out and about I decided to prevent what is bound to happen again anyway even with out them very soon.
Thing is, it turns out their not dead, the shield world has been set to a "life boat system" in which it has teleported the forerunners to another shield world. How ever with a good luminary I can simply trace the reclaimer signal to it to. I'm also still able to communicate with a copy of their consciousness, something uploaded them onto my ships.
If they had been a bunch of builders, lifeworkers, miners and so on, would you have spared them? Even the vast majority of Warrior Servents were probably just following orders.
If it had been me, I'd simply quarantine the zone indefinitely. It grants you the advantage of having them alive if it turns out you need them later on and, if well executed, will protect from the perils of anything getting in or out.
Weal, lets try that this time, backup shield world found. Problem is this time its reacting violently to my fleets presence.
