  • I am relativily new to Wars, and whenever I go online to play, I get owned by a huge amount of tanks, scarabs, vultures etc. I can own if I get the chance to attack first, but I never can. What order should I build stuff?

    • I'll try to help, but I have never fought against other players. 1: 3 Supply buildings, 2: Make turrets around your base. Consider the terrain, and specialize turrets accordingly. Next, make a barracks. Get a reactor built, and make a vehicle depot. Build units for defense. Once all of that is done, make upgrades for units. Anders is good with the upgrades. Once you have middle upgrades, build a good invading force to take the nearest base. Leave units for defense. When the base is taken, build supply depots, upgrade the building and make another reactor. Construct all of the unit making buildings. While this is happening, make upgrades for your army. Once you have two bases with turrets, you are doing pretty good. Keep taking bases and doing this same thing over and over again. Once you have about 3 or 4, build a big army and attack your opponents. This order always works for me. I hope it works for you! :)

    • I shall try that thnx.

    • i never played as anders i play as the captain so i get the elephant mini bases

    • I usually play as the Sergeant guy, Forge I think is his name. As the Covenant I play as the brute chieftan.

        Loading editor
    • Anders is for sure better than Forge. Grizzlies are close to useless due to the fact that three fully upgraded spartan cobras with stars can destroy 12 of them advancing towards your base.

The reason why Anders is so good is that she can field a high-tech army in 10 minutes.

    • Also the Covie are pointless. They have only one leader power.

        Loading editor
    • I agree about Anders. She gives you a great army fast. I like the Carpet bomb from Forge, though. And I feel the same way about the covies except the Brute. The Arbiter is useless, the Prophet is dumb, but the brute has powerful special units. That is the only reason I play as him. It is for sure better to play as the UNSC. Go UNSC!

    • I wish Anders had a usefull hero power.

        Loading editor
    • I know, she really doesn't though. Cryo Bomb? That is sucky.

    • Unless they mass air units or use scarbs. Then it is super helpful.

    • THE UNSC

Forge doesnt really have any special things that are usefull the robot suits are mostly repair and melee so they suck in battles, the carpet bomb can be more usefull than the others due to the fact you can hit a large group of enemys or buildings, his skill can be ok for people wanting more cash faster

Anders has a good special skill (faster upgrade on tech), the bomb isnt as good and the others but at least it takes down air and stops enemys from attacking for a short time which could be used for helping retreats or taking down lots of enemys with minimal dead teamates and the special unit isnt that great unless your focusing on vehicle warfare or just enemys with alot of vehicles

Cutter has a good power (mac cannon) it can take down bases and scarabs with ease if you upgrade it to the max leaving the covenant with alot less forces to fight, his skill isnt to bad (bases start at level 2 base), his special unit isnt too bad a mini mobile base can be usefull for training more spartans and soldiers to the battle field fast or be used to guard good defence positions or to stop them from advancing or just as a anti-infantry training-infantry machine

      THE COVENANT

Arbiter ok skill (the melee combo thing) mostly when fighting a few spartans (helps if you got a little backup), the special units are not that great they cant get upgraded weapons and they are weak but suprisingly you can beat a AI with them only on normal difficulty

Regret the skill can be very useful against vehicles, infantry, air and buildings all you need is a couple of soldiers to take care of the ones you cant hit, the special units are good against spartans and infantry they can go invisible to sneak around and be scouts but they die too fast without their shield upgrade, they also cant hit air units or do much against buildings and tanks take a little bit of time but in the end the truth is that all your enemy needs is are a couple of aircrafts and they wont be able to attack back

Cheiftan the skill is the same as the prophets but might do a little bit more damage, the brutes are very usefull units they got jumpjet upgrade to travel over things fast and the stun thing can stun some enemys so get both of thoses upgrades along with several squads of them and the brute chieftan and you got a nice little army, they are better than the honour guards because they got good range and can retreat with ease when needed to

    • The Arbiter can destroy a Vulture in 3-4 hits and the cleansing beam is very good against bases also the fact that as Forge you can build Heavy Supply bases is usefull

        Loading editor
    • Well what order should I build stuff first? And what do I attack with?

        Loading editor
    • @Portalier yes it is usefull that he can build heavy supply bases right away but they cost more than building normal ones which can be a problem example: your enemys got a big army and your low on resorces and need to fight back but your defence turrets are down and you got no allies (or they are all dead)

    • If anyone who reads this thread still is new to the game, here are some tips from a Lieutenant:

-Don't bother with rushers. If you're attacked before you have an army fielded or decent turret defenses for what you're being attacked with, you've already lost unless you can spew out units from a locked base, and even then, that's never worked for me.

-Against other players, one of two things can happen: Sceario one, you'll be supported by teammates who have some idea what they're doing and you can own it up with them with what little help you can provide, unless the other team is doing roughly the same thing but better. Scenario two is you'll get rushed and everything you care about dies.

-I find that Professor Anders is effective for killing things if you can last to the point where you have Hawks, a decent resource supply from at least 8 Heavy Supply Pads, and the Reinforcements/Reserves upgrades. 20 easily-replacable Hawks is plenty if you want to annihilate, say, anything but an army of Vampires or a decent number of Wolverines.

This advice is coming from a noob, and as such, if you're not a noob, you may be better off disregarding it. There are better tactics, (albeit more difficult ones to execute) such as gravity-lifting hordes of suicide grunts to an enemy base and laughing maniacally as everything dies, but I don't know how to do those without being murdered and if you're still paying attention to what I'm saying, I assume you don't either. Fare thee well.

    • any "new" players that read this and want an easy gameplay (as UNSC) just take this advice from an ex-player of halo wars:

-build a barracks after you build a supplie pad and make at least 5- 8 foot soldiers and have them guard your base.dont bother chaseing enemys off the'll run off and leave you defenseless, making easy pickings.

-upgrade your warhogs as soon as possibly so you can both gather and guard, may seem like a waste of time to you but when you have an army of fast killing machines that can gather and destroy you'll thank me.

-take this advice.DON'T.FOR THE LOVE OF GOD.DON'T RUSH OTHER PLAYERS. you may ask why shouldn't i, here's why they most likely had the same idea to make troops like you but also have a higher chance of wasteing there rescources to make ghost or grunts, which even if you have warhogs or soldiers they WILL get mowed down not only because of the ghost shoot and ram tatics but because of the grunts grenade speacil which the grenades explode sooner that yours so dont rush them(depends if there covenant)

-do not waste your time with forge's uniqe troops there worthless in combat, stick with anders or the captain(forgot his name) both are best choices.

-gather more suplies than the enemy your warhogs are faster that the ghosts since the ghosts still need the boosted speed ability so take advantage of this time.

well take this advice to heart i cant really promise that this stratigy will be easy but it will help so go ahead and try it i might do another one for the covenant later. goodbye.and good luck. -pisces(yes i use this name for me on the wiki as soon as i mae one)

    • I play as all of them because there all fun but as the UNSC in deathmatch i put Two suply plads on either side then put the Barracks, vehicle depot and the air pad at the back. in standard i put a reactor at the back of every base i get then put vehicle depot and barracks beside it then put the air pad on 1 side then put 3 suply pads on the 2 side that only have the air pad then i put up the turrents then aventually upgrade them and get my friendlies to protect my base while get my base upgraded and all that if you have A.I's with you at the time/offline. The arbiter is my favorite character he is mad with rage you can take out an army almost with him alone so he is the best player to rush with but cobras are the best UNSC Vehicles to defend with because they can take out a scarab easy enough too. so choose wisely (Aslo start playing with other characters not just as anders the Arbiter is not useless they lie)...........

    • Old thread is old but because people still might see it for a great game here is my advice as some who has spent more then they should of on the game.

Play as Captain Cutter, the reasoning behind this is, having an upgraded base on start means more resources you can use to build for supplies, meaning faster income early game, on top of that you have the option to mass drop ODST troopers once researched while it takes supplies per drop it does mean you can turn a scouting unit into a full on assault or turn the tides of battle into your favor (it also lets you complete against the Conv grav lift and allow assassinations by either dropping them right on top of the hero (incases of Reget) or off a distance forcing them to deal with your en massed units surrounding their hero. Lastly the Mac rounds, it beats hordes, it beats tanks, it beats scarabs, it slices, it dices, and pops buildings like they yesterday's left overs. You get three wonderful pin point shots unless hell on an area with ODST troopers dropping down right behind it and enjoy the chaos it causes as your enemy watches helplessly as their expensive unit uber unit is erased.

Also a very nice thing about Captain Cutter is that you can use his elephant to set up a barracks meaning you can have an outpost nothing but supplies to keep your ODST troopers dropping with a near by mobile base to make sure that it stays protrected with out taking a slot in your base.
