They've Always Been Faster is an Achievement in Halo: Reach. It is obtained by completing the 2nd Campaign mission, Winter Contingency, without setting foot in a drivable vehicle on normal or higher.[1]

- The achievement's name is a reference to a quote by Cortana, when referring to the superiority of Covenant Slipspace technology - "The Covenant ships have always been faster."[2]
- This achievement will unlock before the mission is completed, right after you clear a landing zone for the Falcon.
- If any players enter a vehicle, the achievement cannot be earned by any of them.
- The winged shoe is a reference to Hermes, the Greek god of traveling, merchants, and thieves.
