Chief Petty Officer is the seventh enlisted rank of the UNSC Navy and is a non-commissioned officer. It is equal in rank to Gunnery Sergeant in the UNSC Marine Corps, Sergeant First Class in the UNSC Army, and Master Sergeant in the UNSC Air Force. It is directly above Petty Officer First Class and below Senior Chief Petty Officer.

In informal settings, Chief Petty Officers are typically called "Chief."
