[edit] MJOLNIR Combat Suit

Main article: MJOLNIR armor

The Spartan Supersoldiers are deployed into the most hazardous environments, and therefore have to carry and use a large arsenal of equipment for use on their missions. These include energy shields, magnetic pads on the waist, thigh and back (for weapon storage), a flashlight and magnification lenses. MJOLNIR armor is made of reflective titanium alloys with a matte black, alloy bodysuit underneath. The titanium alloy is covered with a refractive coating to disperse energy blasts. Even without energy shields, it provides superior protection, speed, strength, reflexes, and capabilities than standard Marine armor, or even the armor worn by ODSTs.

[edit] Heads Up Display unit

Main article: Heads Up Display

The Heads Up Display unit, or HUD for short, is a visor mounted display that can polarize between bright and low light, and is probably the second most useful element in the MJOLNIR Armor. It displays vital information on the current status of the MJOLNIR Armor, the Spartan inside it, and his weaponry. It also has a built in roster of team members, "wink" lights used to acknowledge commands/orders, built in communication node, and flashlight that is sometimes referred as a "Torch".

[edit] Weaponry

A Spartan armed with two SMGs.

Spartans are extremely proficient in all forms of weaponry that have so far been discovered. They are fully trained in ballistic firearms, and have extensive knowledge of Covenant military technology. Spartans are deployed into combat, using a well balanced range of weapons.

The Fragmentation Grenades are used for taking out Covenant ground troops, and disabling light vehicles. However, the situation will arise when the mission requires a more powerful, more effective weapons such as a M19 Rocket Launcher, M6D, M90 Shotgun, or SRS99C-S2 AM Sniper Rifle. Spartans can use these weapons with lethal tact and accuracy. If a weapon's ammunition supply is depleted, Spartans are also capable of using discarded or dropped Covenant firearms. Spartans are highly skilled at all forms of weapons (Human, Covenant, Forerunner), and also excel at hand-to-hand combat. Spartans also have the strength to rip off emplaced weapons and use these turrets, cannons , etc. to their advantage in their many conflicts.

Additionally, using the magnetic pads on the Spartan's back, they can transport compact HAVOC Nukes or LOTUS Anti-Tank mines when the mission involves destroying a base, outpost or ship.

It is noted that probably all SPARTANs prefer Human manufactured weapons, as opposed to Covenant created weaponry.

[edit] Halo: Combat Evolved

In the events before and during Halo Combat Evolved, Spartans are generally armed and deployed with three weapons: an MA5B Assault Rifle, an M6D Magnum as a backup weapon, and, depending on their specialty, an SRS99C-S2 AM Sniper Rifle, an M19 Rocket Launcher, or an M90 Shotgun. Spartan-II's will occasionally use MA2B Assault Rifles (for stealth missions) along with Combat Knives and Fragmentation Grenades.

[edit] Halo 2

In the Halo 2 era, Spartan-II's were generally armed with standard UNSC weaponry: a BR55 Battle Rifle as a primary weapon, an M7 SMG as a backup weapon. They will not usually have an M6C Magnum as a secondary weapon, preferring the SMG for its high rates of fire. When needed, Spartans can be deployed with Rocket Launchers, usually to take out manned guns or vehicles.

[edit] Halo 3

In Halo 3, Spartans are armed with a MA5C Assault Rifle which they use for close to medium range or an BR55HB SR Battle Rifle which they use for close to medium-long ranges, and a M6G which they use for close to medium ranges. For anti-vehicular purposes, the Spartan Laser seems to have replaced the Rocket Launcher in terms of deployment.
