Dr. Ruiz was a human scientist stationed at The Refuge on Requiem. While he and Dr. Boyd were researching the Forerunner portal systems, they were attacked by Promethean forces. Fireteam Crimson went in and saved them, closing the portals with Ruiz' discovery of the correct device.[1]
