[edit] Background

[edit] History

Perth was founded on 11 June 1829 by Captain James Stirling as the political center of the free settler Swan River Colony. It has continued to serve as the seat of Government for Western Australia to the present day (Halo 3 era).

The metropolitan area is located in the south west of the continent between the Indian Ocean and a low coastal escarpment known as the Darling Range. The central business district and suburbs of Perth are situated on the Swan River. Huge growth driven by the large mineral and livestock/farming abilities of the state and reliance on port infrastructure made the city a political and business powerhouse. The nearest city to Perth with a population over 1 million is Adelaide in South Australia, which is 2,104 kilometers (1,307 mi) away, making Perth the most isolated city (of over 1 million people) in the world.

[edit] UNSC

It is home to Swanbourne's ONI Ordnance Testing Facility B5D, a base that created the Mark VI MJOLNIR Powered Assault Armor/S variant for the SPARTAN-IIs and possibly for ONI as well. [1].
