North America satellite

A satellite view of the North American continent.

North America is a continent in the Earth's northern and western hemisphere.

History[]

Human-Covenant war[]

Main article: Battle of Earth

In late 2552, the Covenant attacked the city of Cleveland. The Covenant rounded up a lot of civilians and took them to Old Cleveland.[1] To assist with any of the fleeing and injured civilians of Cleveland, a relief camp was set up in the adjacent town of Akron.[2]

In and around the same time, the SPARTAN-II's of Frederic-104, Linda-058, and William-043, used the Base Segundo Terra to help plan attacks on the Covenant in Havana and the rest of Cuba. Blue Team and UNSC forces would then be deployed to Cuba.[3] In the ensuing battle, the city's Space elevator would be destroyed.[4]

Near the end of the Battle of Earth, Operation: MARSH FLASH was conducted in Arizona. The Operation was a success but resulted in the detonation of a Nuclear weapon.[5]

Post-War[]

In 2557, the Ur-Didact would use the Composer on the city of New Phoenix.[6]

Government[]

Defenses[]

At least two Orbital Defense Platforms were above the continent: Oaxaca Station[7] and Nassau Station.[8]

Topography[]

It is bordered on the north by the Arctic Ocean, on the east by the North Atlantic Ocean, on the southeast by the Caribbean Sea, and on the south and west by the North Pacific Ocean; South America lies to the southeast. It covers an area of about 24,709,000 square kilometers (9,540,000 sq mi), about 4.8% of the planet's surface or about 16.5% of its land area. It is the third-largest continent in the area, following Asia and Africa. North America and South America are collectively known as the Americas.

A number of plants and animals native to North America appear on colony worlds as well. This included the Douglas-fir and the White Oak.
