A naval squadron is typically a unit of 3-4 warships. It can be either a permanent battle formation too small to be labeled a fleet, a sub-division of a fleet, or an ad hoc grouping of warships. A squadron is typically made up of capital ships comprising of battleships, battlecruisers, cruisers, and carriers. Smaller vessels such as light cruisers, destroyers, frigates, and corvettes can also be used to make up a squadron.[1]
