The Ministry of Abnegation is a branch of the government of the Covenant charged with ideological control and enforcement, along with exegetics, applied hermeneutics and philology. As part of the Writ of Union the Sangheili Ascetic guard were dissolved and reconstituted under the Ministry of Abnegation, where they remained dormant for centuries until the Great Schism.[1]
