- The Halo 3 achievement Alas, Poor Yorick is a reference to a scene from Hamlet in which a gravedigger exhumes the deceased court jester's skull.
- Perchance to Dream, the name of track 20 in Halo: Original Soundtrack, is a phrase from the "To be, or not to be" soliloquy spoken in Hamlet.
- UNSC Midsummer Night is named after A Midsummer Nights Dream.
- The Halo 3 ViDoc Et Tu, Brute? is a line from Julius Caesar.
- The first chapter of the Halo: Reach level The Pillar of Autumn is "Once More Unto the Breach," a phrase from Henry V, act 3, scene 1, line 1.
- The phrase is also repeated by Black Box in Hunt the Truth season 2, episode 4.
- A reference to Hamlet in Halo: Contact Harvest is also made multiple times by A.I. Sif and Mack, during the Harvest conflict in the early days of the war.
