Jay Weinland is a senior employee of Bungie Studios and head of the sound department. He studied at Oberlin College and Conservatory for five years, and then went on to teach as a high school orchestra teacher for another five years. He has been in the video game industry since at least 1996. He is a major aficionado of science fiction novels, sports, brass instruments, and beer—with beef jerky.
He is married to Seattle actress Heather Hawkins, and has two children.
He was credited as sound designer for Halo: Combat Evolved. He then served as sound lead for Halo 2. He still works at Bungie, and likely worked on Halo 3.
