The UNSC of Halopedia Service Medals are a group of awards given out by the UoH to recognize superior achievements by individual users for singular actions or sustained actions of devotion to the cause of the UNSC of Halopedia. These medals are honorably given to members of the UoH either through nomination or achievement.

Contents

Policy

The UNSC-themed service medals are designed to add a new depth to the UoH experience. Like Halopedia's Official Awards, these citations recognize superior service to the cause of the wiki. Some of the medals are automatically awarded for specific achievements, while others are given to users through nomination to recognize certain actions.

These medals were designed by then-Major ED of Blackrock Company for implementation in Blackrock Company, but with the support of the entire fourth term UoH command staff, they were implemented for all of the UoH on August 18, 2007. With the dissolution of the Company System in November 2007, service medals can no longer be awarded to entire companies.

These awards are given based solely on merit. Attempting to bribe, encourage, or entice other users to nominate you for these awards will result in immediate disqualification. Displaying medals you have not earned will result in immediate disqualification. These medals may only be given by senior officers of the UNSC of Halopedia ranked Captain or above, however any user may nominate or be nominated.

Nominated Medals

Nominated medals require nomination from another user to be awarded. They are displayed before sustained performance medals because they are more difficult to receive. Nomination may be made by any Halopedia user, though only active members of the UoH may receive the award. Nomination is made through a post on the Service Medals Section detailing specifically what a user has done to deserve the award, after which the nomination is reviewed by a UoH senior officer and a decision is made as to whether the award will be given or not. However, UoH officers ranked Commander and above may automatically bestow awards upon users sonely on their discretion.

These edits must show clear, intricate knowledge of Halo information as well as the ability to coherently put it together into a high quality article.

The award is authorized to be awarded an infinite number of times, however a period of one month must pass between a user first receiving a medal and that user receiving a second nomination for it. The UNSC Silver Star Medal

The UNSC of Halopedia has authorized 2 awards of this medal.

{{UoHSilverStarMedal}}

This medal is awarded for every 10,000 edits of all types a member of the UoH makes to Halopedia. The number of edits may be determined by using the Edit Count feature on Halopedia. The award is authorized to be given for every 10,000 edits made, though the user must reach the 10,000 milestone before or during their tenure in the UNSC of Halopedia. The number of edits of any particular type is irrelevant in giving the award, though deleted edits do not count toward the 10,000 edit quota.

The UNSC Legion Medal

{{UoHLegionMedal}}

This medal is awarded for every 1,000 main space edits a member of the UoH has made to Halopedia. The medal is authorized to be awarded automatically for every 1,000 main edits a user account has. The 1,000 edit count must, however, be reached either before or during the user's tenure with the UoH. 1,000 main edits do not include all edits to Halopedia, only the (Main) edits on your editcount go towards this medal.

Log of Medals Awarded

Creating an order in the Medal log is essential to keeping track of how many medals have been awarded and to whom. An order consists of an abbreviation for the medal, number of medal given, and number of overall medals given. example: BCLM-001-0003 (UNSC Legion Medal, 1st Legion Medal given, 3 total UNSC Medals given overall)
