Current Proposals
Revert back to the old Rank System
My fellow Councilors of the United Nations,
Over the past two terms, we have had RelentlessRecusant's rank system in place for all of the members of the UNSC of Halopedia. Yes, there are some good things about it, such as users promote themselves in accordance with their editcount.
Though there is one absolutely flaw with the current system, it awards people on their editcount...and not their willingness to work and their merit and dedication to the group.
That's why I propose that we go back to the old ranking system that was in place before we had the five generals.
Ranks
- Private (Recruits)
- Private First Class
- Lance Corporal
- Corporal
- Sergeant
- Staff Sergeant
- Gunnery Sergeant
- Master Sergeant
- Sergeant Major
- Sergeant Major of the United Nations
- Midshipman (Officer Recruit/Cadet)
- Second Lieutenant
- First Lieutenant
- Captain
- Major
- Commander
- Colonel
Then all Generals would have ranks according to their experience, though all would be equal in terms of power.
- Brigadier General (Junior General - Least amount of Council Service)
- Major General (Two Non-Apointed Generals)
- Lieutenant General (Vice Chairman of the Council - Very experienced and second most Council Service)
- General (Chairman of the Council - Most experienced and most Council Service)
Purposes
- Would award Halopedians their rank based on the quality, not quantity, of their edits. Also awards them for their dedication to the group, and willingness to work with others.
- Gives members who deserve to be an Officer a chance.
- Gives members who didn't deserve to be a Non-Commissioned Officer or an Officer low positions within the group.
- Lets us look over the user's contributions before we promoted he/she up the ladder of ranks.
Cheers,

- I don't mind the grades alongside the ranks. As for CT's rank system, if it was implemented, I think we should stick with the Halo 3 ranks rather than the USMC (or whatever they are) ranks, but take out the higher grades. General simon rjh 21:17, 24 June 2008 (UTC)
- Meh. Seems like you just want a way to say "I have a higher rank than you because I've been on the council for longer." Relentless' system is at least "I have a higher rank than you because I have more edits." -- Manticore

- So having a higher editcount means you should have a higher rank? My system gives you your rank in accordance with your experience as a member of the UNSC, which is EXACTLY how modern Generals/Admirals get promoted. And plus, it's not because you've been on it for longer, it's how well you did while holding a position in the Council.

- Well, RR's system has both aspects - promotions for UoH experience and editcount. Best of both worlds. General simon rjh 22:17, 25 June 2008 (UTC)
- Alright then, how many promotions have you personally given due to experience?
Master General Stubblefield, XVIII Amphibious CorpsTalk 6/25/2008
- More than I have given for edit count. I give them based on the quality of UNSC-related edits (except for Privates, to encourage them) and for contributing to the AfIs. And I shouldn't have to provide further explanation for my opinion, especially when my comment was trying to find a compromise to suit everyone. General simon rjh 21:06, 28 June 2008 (UTC)

Against (1)
- After thinking about it, it's not the best idea, we change the rank system way to much, at least this way it's halo related. And if someone could cross out my first vote I'd be thankful, because I'm on my mom's cellphone and this is really hard.--General RyanTheGreat11

Remove Sergeant Major of the UoH (Unanimous Pass)
I forget exactly what the purpose of this rank is, if I recall correctly, it's some sort of link between the enlisted and officer ranks. Anyway, it doesn't seem to serve much practical use, I've never known it to be used.

- As per Simon, our current SgtMaj didn't pay much attention to his duties. Therefore I see no current purpose.

- It's a pointless rank. --Blemo
