During a routine overhaul of the Bungie.net Forums a couple days ago, a few of our fellow comrades in arms found a mysterious forum link.

Late last week, Bungie.net went through an overall, including organizing different forums, etc. Though they must have thought that we were a bunch of fools with pretty awfully poor cow reflexes. A bunch of Bungie.net forum members were just searching through the newly organized forum section, which includes a new Bungie Universe forum, and with it...found a brand new "Halo: Reach" forum.

Seen here on an archived/cache version of a Bungie.net thread concerning the matter, you can see the Halo: Reach forum link; Bungie.net Moderators have already swiftly removed all hint of the sub-forum's existence, including deleting various threads that revealed the new link. The Bungie Ninja's seem to have their work cut out for them.

So it begs the question...is this Halo: Reach Bungie's next big project? Is it just the final name for the long anticipated and vaporware candidate Halo: Chronicles? And will it be shown this year at Microsoft's E3 2009 Media Briefing in Los Angeles?

Let's hope this rumor is absolutely true!

The potential for a game based on Reach is enormous. In The Fall of Reach and First Strike, we only got to see what happened to the Spartans, and a single Marine company. Presumably, the planet was host to millions of people, the battle for which would rival that of Earth. We know that the Covenant was still fighting to control the planet by September, but we don't know much else - how many civilians escaped? Were areas occupied? Did the UNSC manage to wage an effective guerilla resistance? I hope its more similar to ODST than traditional "Spartan" gameplay, introducing more "normal" characters. I remember a quote from a while back, that Bungie would be providing additional content for Halo 3 for quite some time - perhaps this is what they meant? If its an expansion, like ODST, then naturally Bungie wouldn't consider it another Halo "game."

With the scale and scope of the Invasion of Reach, I assume that it will be one massive game...or it's going to be a SPARTAN-oriented game.

They cannot delete which is not owned by them, without prior consent of the site Administration. And by now...the leak is already spread out across all of the major Halo sites.

I know Paul Russel and Frankie have accounts, though Russel seems to have abandoned it and Frankie only created it to comment on the news page for the Spartan Black interview. And even being the creators of the game still isn't enough to warrant administrational, bureaucrat, or even rollback powers.

The potential for this game is simply massive. There are so many untold stories during the Fall of Reach, not only on the side of the UNSC and Covenant, but also possible forerunner chapters to explore as well.

It would be so cool if you play as a Elite Field Master invadeing Reach so you could command troops like in Halo Wars but you would still be able to fight so it would be like a a mix between a real time strategy and a action/shooter game. But that will never happen because Bungie would never let us play as the bad guy.

This'll be interesting.

I'll finally get to know what happened in Reach.

Playing as Marines would be difficult, as they don't have energy shields.

Maybe we might witness a younger John? Most probably not the face, but we might find out about his personality then.

We do know quite a large sum about Johns appearance and personality, and to a certain extent, the transpiring of the Battle of Reach, but I am very excited to see what other stories we'll get to experience through this new project.

I think its a not-so-open secret that Chronicles is as dead as the movie. Peter Jackson seems to have disappointed us in his promises of Halo awesomeness. Hopefully they put the material Wingnut Interactive generated for it to good use elsewhere, but I would have liked to see what they were working on.

It would be awesome if it were a first person shooter version of halo wars! And the ability to choose humans or covenant would make it a really fun game! I've always wanted to play through the whole story mode as an elite!

I think that this is just the first part of Halo: Chronicles, rather than a name change. Halo: Chronicles could be a vidya adaption series to the novels.

Well isn't Halo: Chronicles supposed to delve into Master Chief's backstory, so wouldn't that mean The Fall of Reach really would be the only novel adaptation there could be(not to mention that the only 2 novels with MC in it are Reach and First Strike)

I can't wait to see (or hear) what style of game it will be. I'm sure we'll see some Spartans, but as for if we will play as them? That's the question.

Just a side note, you can see 9 plasma-blue explosions on the surface, but no ships to fire them, other than one UNSC one that I don't recognize. Has anyone seen this ship before? Also, how did one position get overrun in seconds? And who are all of thses people? Who's noble 1? Who's this 'Sir' in the last line? Who is Gamma station? So many questions...any answers?

Reach Station Gamma was a repair facility in orbit around Reach. I believe the ship you are referring to is a UNSC Frigate.

I have some more questions. Why does the planet's surface seem on fire? And if this is Reach, where are all of the UNSC ships and orbital stations? Didn't the Covies decelerate some ways away from the planet at first? I hope this isn't actually the Fall of Reach, it would mean a ton of contradictions.

Thank's for the (possible) clarification. Like I said, I wasn't sure. But aren't you concerned that Microsoft is milking them? I mean really, we all know that the Covies didn't exit slipspace under the orbial defenses, and where are the ships? Despite the fact that this was the single largest conflict in the war (a couple hundred ships!), we only saw 1 measly frigate.

I dont think that what was happening on the planet was in time with the communications we hear. the communications themselves could be a combination of many events, all of this done to add dramatic effect to the trailer.

In the fall of Reach states that Covenant exit slipspace outside the kill zone of MAC defense grid, and one ship described similar to a particle beam rifle destroy the ships from the edge of the system, where Pillar of Autumn was.

but Reach was more than military installations we see, also were large cities and civilian facilities, Captain Cutter´s wife and daugther live there, were they evacuated on time? and if the 2 class of spartans II was in training, were put on duty inmediatly?

And what happened to the other planets in system like Tribute?
