Halopedia:FanArt Rulings

From Halopedia, the Halo Wiki

Jump to: navigation, search
Archived rulings can be found here.
{{Approved|~~~~~|2}}
{{Denied|~~~~~}}

While fanfiction on Halopedia is strictly not allowed, Fanart or Fan Images on Halopedia is a grey issue. To iron out any disagreements a FanArt Committee was created to judge each image and determine whether it can be posted in a Halopedia article.

Disputed Images are first posted here and any arguments made about why they should be accepted or erased added. The committe then decides whether the image is allowed and if image is approved it gets approved and is allowed to be posted in the article.

Once an image gets three votes the ruling has been made. When an article is approved place the following code on the image page, {{Approved|~~~~~}}. If you want the round stamp shown below then put this code, {{Approved|~~~~~|2}}. If an image is denied approval then enter the following code on the Image page, {{Denied|~~~~~}}. After applying the Approved or Deleted Template move the image to the Past Votes Page.

If you think an image has been unfairly ruled upon then you can appeal the committee's decision by reposting the image and stating your argument on why the image shouldn't be erased.

To Seek Approval

To seek approval for an image first post it below. Use the Ruling template, {{Ruling|}}, by putting the image name after the vertical bar. So for example if I wanted to dispute the Image:Misterchief.gif then I would edit this page go the bottom and add the Ruling template like this, {{Ruling|Image:Misterchief.gif}}

Below are the images waiting for a ruling:

I see no reason why this would be used on an article. -- Manticore Manticore is a Halopedia administrator. Talk | Contributions 03:38, 6 September 2007 (UTC)

I dont intend for this to be used in an article. I made it and just wanted to see if I could get it approved. -- ʄЇŋĮʂĦ Ţħξ ʄĬĢЋǂ -- Odst helljumper 00:33, 10 September 2007 (UTC)
Why would you want it approved, if not to be used in an article? --NOTASTAFF GPT(talk)(eating) 00:43, 10 September 2007 (UTC)

I know it would be a shot in the dark but I wanted to put it up for the featured image. Their are plenty of funny quotes but the Master Chief is to bad ass and serious to be seen doing something funny. -- ʄЇŋĮʂĦ Ţħξ ʄĬĢЋǂ -- Odst helljumper 10:34, 11 September 2007 (UTC)

To be approved means enabling you to use it in articles. So what you suggested is not a reason at all. denied pics can still be used in non-canon articles (user pages, userbox etc.). I feel that this pic should be denied.--Spartan-781 CommCSV 12:06, 11 September 2007 (UTC)

At the top of the featured quote and image page it says that all nominated images should either be Halo Canon images or ones approved by the FanArt Committee.

I decided to bring back this image for ruling because it's currently being used, but more importantly because I don't agree that it is low quality. More like the opposite. So now I bring back this image for the FAC to re-consider their ruling. What do you guys think?--Spartan-781 CommCSV 14:24, 5 October 2007 (UTC)

DENY I still feel the same way about this one. --ED 14:36, 5 October 2007 (UTC)

Comment: I don't see why it looks so bad. Only those red lights do......--Spartan-781 CommCSV 07:30, 6 October 2007 (UTC)

Deny - still looks as tacky as when I last denied it. -- Manticore Manticore is a Halopedia administrator. Talk | Contributions 08:20, 9 October 2007 (UTC)

I brought up this new image for ruling because I feel it's of low quality and blurry. Furthermore, the reticle in the image makes it look worse.--Spartan-781 CommCSV 06:48, 23 October 2007 (UTC)

Please re-check the definition of FanArt. This screenshot doesn't appear to have been tampered with, and there's no indication it is FanArt. This committee isn't for the approval of non-FanArt images to use on articles; that's the role of any editor. If you find a higher quality image, by all means, replace it with that. -- Manticore Manticore is a Halopedia administrator. Talk | Contributions 08:07, 23 October 2007 (UTC)

--Whoops sorry. Wasn't aware of such stuff.--Spartan-781 CommCSV 08:56, 23 October 2007 (UTC)
