The Halo 2 Screen Shadows are shadow-like alterations to the screen that clearly show a silhouetted image from the game. These are minor glitches the player may encounter while playing Halo 2 on the Xbox 360 via backwards compatibility. These often hinder the game the player is playing and can cause Legendary runs to fail. They can be seen primarily in the Campaign, but have also presumably been sighted in some multiplayer settings. Nothing seems to be able to remove them from the screen short of turning the Xbox off or time. This has only been observed when the Xbox disc is played on an Xbox 360.
Screen shadows take the form of items that have been seen before, either in game or in cutscene. Some have been:
- An Elite Ranger outside of Cairo Station
- Thel 'Vadam
- Three Phantoms taking off as seen in the beginning of High Charity
