Greece is a European country located on Earth.
The city of Sparta is located there. The ORION Program and its SPARTAN-II and III successors were named after and based of off the city's war-like inhabitants. Greece is related with many things such as characters, places or events in Halo universe. Areas such as Adrianople, Constantinople, Cyprus, & Macedonia are considered to be Greek, though whether they are held by Greece in Halo is completely unknown.
The only thing that confirms the existence of Greece during the Human-Covenant war is the UNSC Orbital Defense Platform Athens Station which is over its capital, Athens.
[edit] Greek references in Halo
There are some Greek references in the Halo universe. Here are some of them:
- Gephyrophobia: Gephyrophobia (Greek: γεφυροφοβία), like many other words finishing with "-phobia", is a Greek word. Gephyrophobia, in both Greek and English, is the fear of bridges.
- Porta: Porta (Greek: πόρτα) is the Greek word for door.
- Melissa: Melissa (Greek: μέλισσα) is the Greek word for bee. Considering the fact that the AI Melissa is afraid of bees, we can say that her name is inspired by the insect melissa.

- Arcadia: Arcadia (Greek: Αρκαδία) is a region located in Pelloponesus, southern Greece.
- Papadakis: Papadakis, UNSC Marine, (Greek: Παπαδάκης) is a common Greek surname.
