A beginner's Forge Robot.
A more advanced Forge Robot.
There are endless possibilities with Forge Robots!

As seen in multiple Bungie.net screenshots, some players have created "Giant Robots" out of Forge objects such as double boxes, or single boxes. In order to make most of these robots, the player must know how to make forge objects "float" in midair. For example, to make the robot's arms, they can't be held up by anything. Some robots have "Power Cores" where if one is shot, the player inside the robot dies.

Robots can also be pivotal points in maps, such as a watchtower robot. They work almost as if an entire building is added to the map.

The most common (or only) maps players make these robots are Avalanche and Standoff. Sandtrap is not capable of producing such structure as double boxes can't be put in within the map. Surprisingly, Foundry is also not capable of doing so, presumably because the hidden wall is relatively low. However players have created a makeshift scarab to compensate, However in Sandbox the player may easily make a robot with the vast number of objects to choose from and is by far the best map for the job.

[edit] Components

Eyes- The eyes of most Forge Robots are made of Active Camo, Overshields, or Custom Powerups and on Sandbox, Red and Blue lights.

Body- The body parts of most Forge Robots are made of Double Boxes, Single Boxes, Barriers, and to specific maps, Fence Boxes on (Standoff, Foundry), Stairs (Foundry), and Watchtower Bases (Avalanche), but with the huge range of objects on Sandbox (Level), players can use the extensive veriety of Blocks for the main body, Tube pieces for arms and legs, and Walls to add armour to their robot.

Weapons- Common weapons to use in Forge Robots (Primarily in the head, shoulders, and hands) are a Spartan Laser, a Missile Pod, a Rocket Launcher, a Fuel Rod Gun, a Flamethrower, or a Sentinel Beam. Players can also use a hollow arm with man cannons and grav lifts in it to create a cannon, these more easily fire Barrels, Soccer balls, and Golf balls, but smoother mechanisms may be able to fire Fusion coils. On Avalanche players can put a ghost in one of the arms, then hold down the 'wings' with Barricades, this creates a dual firing plasma cannon. If your robot has a hollow body, you can set up an array of 2 way teleporters to take you to each of the arms and the head, as well as all the robot's other weapons.

Players can also give Forge Robots a more exciting touch with any other objects they can think of to use. Furthermore, one can put explosives (Such as Fusion Cores) in points players go to in the Robots to quickly take out players becoming a nuisance. Power Cores are also usually put in to make the player more cautious, as this will usually take out all of the Robot in some weak spot.

[edit] Trivia

  • Forge robots have been featured on Bungie.net, where the very first robot made is shown on the "Heroic Maps Now Free" ad.
  • Obviously, you can't operate the robot or move it during gameplay, as it is made of unmovable objects.
