The UNSC Navy dress uniform differs little from those worn by members of the United States Navy five hundred years previously. It consists of a white jacket, white trousers, and a peaked cover for males and a round cover for females ranked Petty Officer and above. Both covers are adorned with an officer crest; a silver shield over two crossed gold fouled anchors, surmounted by a silver eagle. Those ranked Commander and above wear gold "scrambled egg" oak leaves on their covers, while Flag Officers may wear aiguillettes with the jacket, which are generally worn on the left hand side of the uniform. The uniform is worn with a cover, even while indoors.[1][2][3]

Battle Dress Uniform[]

Picture Variant Description
Tom Lasky profile, 2557 Standard Navy BDU While some officers were known to wear the battle dress uniform while on field operations during the end of the Human-Covenant war, the uniform did not become a staple for naval officer garb until mid-2553.[4] Aesthetically the BDU is very similar to the 2552-era service uniform. It includes a bracer and pauldron for the firing arm as well as a large collar guard that protects the upper arm, shoulder and neck of the non-firing arm. The left side of the armored vest bears the wearer's ribbons and depending on the variant, either the seal of the UEG.[5] The collar, right pauldron and cuffs bear the wearer's rank. The BDU has room for a holster and a soft-case and is not generally worn with a cover.
