Were you looking for Active camouflage, the Covenant equivalent?
UNSC Marine Corps

The UNSC Marine Corps standard-issue battledress comes with camouflage to blend into the surrounding environment.

Camouflage, also known as cryptic coloration, concealing coloration or disruptive pattern material, is a form of deception that allows a person or object to remain indiscernible from, or "blend in to," the surrounding environment. Examples include the battledress of UNSC Marines, ODSTs, UNSC Army troopers, and some coatings on weapons.

Woodland Camouflage, which first originated in the UK in the mid 20th Century.

There are many forms of camouflage, each used for a specific environment. The UNSC Marine Corps seem to utilize a type of Woodland Camouflage after the events of Alpha Halo, and appear to use a variant of the Desert 2-colour pattern by the Battle of Installation 00. The Orbital Drop Shock Troopers utilize urban camouflage during the discovery of the second Halo installation. Also, during the Fall of Reach, the UNSC Army used various forms of camouflage, among them are solid color olive drab and desert tan.

  • Woodland- Jungle or forest fighting
  • Desert- Outdoor desert fighting
  • Urban- For urban or (occasionally) tundra fighting
  • Space- for EVA fighting. e.g. on the hull of a ship.

Covenant[]

Covenant forces use armor coloration to differentiate rank, with no effort to employ passive camouflage methods. As a result, Covenant armor is useless in that aspect. Instead, Special Operations Sangheili, Jiralhanae and Unggoy use Active camouflage systems for stealth operations, which is far superior to passive camouflage.
