A screenshot of the Corpse Respawn glitch taking place on Halo 3's multiplayer map Valhalla. Player-corpses can pick up a single weapons by touching it. On their screen, they will be holding the weapon normally; to others, the weapon will appear to be glued to the corpse's hand.
Note that the Battle rifle shown on-screen is "fake", as are the hands holding it. Players' cannot see their own upper bodies -- a player's upper body is never rendered on the player's own screen -- so Bungie added two "fake" limbs that show up where the player's arms are (expected to be) located. The "fake" limbs aren't removed from a player's first-person view when that player dies, as players don't usually have first-person views from inside corpses.

Player-corpses are initially unarmed. When an unarmed player-corpse touches a weapon, they automatically pick it up.
