Esko Korpijaakko is an archaeologist in the team that dug up the Forerunner facility on Coral as part of the Orion Archaeological Expedition. He has a wife, Carrie, and a son, Oscar. Before Coral's destruction, he wrote a letter to his wife detailing his work.[1]

- It might be worth noting that his name is clearly a Finnish one. Esko is a common man's name in Finland, while Korpijaakko is roughly translated from Finnish to English as "Woodjake", with "Korpi" being a word describing a forest and "Jaakko" being also a common Finnish man's name, which could be translated as "Jake" in English.
