Erebus VII was a research colony established by the Unified Earth Government.
History
Although the planet is a very plausible candidate for colonization, no attempts have been made thus far due to hostile indigenous life and interference by the Office of Naval Intelligence which had decided to maintain several bases across the large forest on the planet's surface.[1] They hope to figure out more about overcoming these challenges.[2]
After 2557,[1] all contact with the personnel on the planet was lost. Fireteams were sent to figure out what could have caused this and found that these bases were devoid of any personnel. ONI has suspended any further resource allocation for the planet and does not plan to come back to it.[2]

Ecology
The vast equatorial forest[2] is home to a wide array of exotic life, including bio-luminescent plants and several unidentified animal species.[3]
