The Equipment Swapping Glitch is a glitch in Halo 3 and Halo Reach that allows players to swap a piece of equipment or armor ability for a power up. This can be done in MatchmakingCustom GamesForge, and Campaign.

Halo 3Edit

  1. Pick up a piece of equipment, such as a bubble shield.
  2. Slowly walk toward an invisibility or overshield power up, holding the Pick Up Weapon button (default RB). Crouching will help walk as slowly as possible. Custom powerups cannot be picked up.
  3. If done correctly, your equipment will be dropped on the ground, and you will not have an equipment icon.
  4. The powerup can be used if you pick up another piece of equipment, and will be dropped if you are killed.

Halo ReachEdit

  1. Ensure that you are not the connection host.
  2. Pick up an armor ability, such as a jet-pack.
  3. Slowly walk toward a power up, holding the Pick Up Weapon button (default RB). Crouching will help walk as slowly as possible. Unlike in Halo 3, custom power ups can be used.
  4. If done correctly, your equipment will be dropped on the ground, and the power up will be around your torso or feet and follow your body.
  5. The powerup can be used if you pick up another piece of equipment, and will be dropped if you are killed.
  • If you do the Infinite Armor Lock Glitch prior to performing this glitch, from some angles, your torso will be invisible. Picking up an invisibility power up while in this state will cause you to be invisible except for your feet and head.
  • Your hitbox will cover the power up, meaning that if it is shot, you will take damage.
  • Entering a vehicle will cause the power up to change position on your body.
