Eleanor was a young girl with intestinal tuberculosis which she contracted from her babysitter Eccatrina. She and her mother encountered Kamal Zaman while waiting for a packbus. It was Kamal who determined she had TB, and told her mother, who had previously been told it was food allergies, how to get Eleanor tested for free. As a sign of gratitude Eleanor's mother directed Kamal to her sister Cammie, who gave him a place to stay.[1]
