Appearances
Edit
It is The Library's main theme and is most often heard in this level. It is also played when escaping the structure during the level 343 Guilty Spark through a blood-stained elevator shaft and when you have your first encounter with the combat forms. It shows up during the last outside area encounter where the banshees are held in Two Betrayals. It is in Keyes after you leave the area where the infected captain is. It is played in the middle part of The Maw when you enter the cryo area, and again if you stay too long in the armory.
Overview
Edit
It repeats several notes many times, with carefully placed variations designed to surprise the listener. Much of the sounds are electronically-generated, and violins are incorporated at 0:12. An odd drum beat remains throughout the piece, reinforcing the eerie feeling of the music played.
Nomenclature
Edit
The name of the piece is a strong reference to the Flood, as it plays in the Library and for many of their other appearances.
Trivia
Edit
- When the song appears in Keyes, it is actually there for the Covenant threat, not the flood.
- The song can be skipped on Keyes if the player immediatly leaves the room as soon as the cutscene is over.
- The song can also be skipped on Two Betrayals, along with every other song than Rock Anthem For Saving The World at the beginning, if the player slides down the pyramid.
