A Company is a military unit^[1] used to organize UNSC Marine combat units.

Composition Edit

The typical Company is composed of four Platoons, plus a "Company Headquarters Section", for a total of 164 soldiers.^[2] Each Company is commanded by a First Lieutenant or Captain, with a Staff Sergeant or Gunnery Sergeant serving as "company sergeant." Normally each Company will have three infantry Platoons plus a heavy weapons Platoon, though depending on unit type and mission it may forgo this model, mixing the heavy weapons with regular infantry so that each Platoon has a heavy weapons Squad.^[3]

Within a Regiment, each of the twelve Companies are named phonetically "A" (Alpha) through "M" (Mike), although "J" is excluded.^[4]

• The Spartan-III Program divided the Spartans into Alpha, Beta and Gamma Companies, with a Delta Company planned but not trained, composed of approximately 300 Spartans per unit.
