Camp New Hope was a facility located on the UEG colony world of Victoria, in the 111 Tauri system. Camp New Hope served as a base of operations for the United Rebel Front.

History[]

Raid on Camp New Hope[]

Main article: Raid on Camp New Hope

By 2531 United Rebel Front had repeatedly had its operations disrupted by a four-man team of SPARTAN-II supersoldiers known as Blue Team. The team disrupted URF operations including Station Jefferson, the destroyer URF Origami and a saboteur cell on Reach, as well as an incident in Micronesia, and a high-explosives manufacturing facility at an unspecified location.[1] In response the rebels gathered together three stolen FENRIS Nuclear Warheads at Camp New Hope in a way so sloppy that the Office of Naval Intelligence could not help but notice, then contacted the UNSC and offered to trade the nukes in exchange for medicines for their people suffering from Boren's Syndrome. The rebels then set a trap for Blue Team, whom they anticipated would be sent, successfully ambushing John-117, Frederic-104, Kelly-087 and Linda-058 using an Antigravity Plate. However, the rebels were unaware of the presence of a fifth Spartan and new addition to the team, Kurt-051, who had avoided the trap. Kurt was able to free the other members of Blue Team and they then retreated from the camp with the recovered warheads. Rebel leader General Howard Graves was killed in the process.

It is unclear what became of the base since then.

Assets[]

It had an extensive defense system, even by SPARTAN-II standards, featuring motion and seismic detectors, a triple layering of guards, Warthog APCs, trained dogs, and MAKO Drones.[2]

Trivia[]

  • In the novel Halo: Ghosts of Onyx, on page 31, it is referred to as Camp New Hope in the date/time stamp, but as Base New Hope later on that page. This is a common mistake made, as people will often confuse the word base for other words.
  • The camp is likely named for Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope. This could either be a reference by the author, or by the rebels who would have seen themselves as akin to the "good" rebels of the film trilogy, and the UNSC as akin to the evil Galactic Empire.
