Brute Sandbox
From Halopedia, the Halo Wiki
- "...The familiar whine of a Covenant Ghost howls and Master Chief lowers the Gauss cannon. But this Ghost is unlike any Ghost we've seen before. Instead of the two small wings that normally frame a Ghost, this model is more tube-like in design. The sound is unmistakable, just like its bumpy hover. There's a much larger driver at the back of this new Ghost-type vehicle -- a Brute. This is the first vehicle we've seen from what Griesemer describes as the Brute Sandbox. As Master Chief lowers the Gauss cannon on the Ghost, the demo ends."

[edit] Description
The Brute Sandbox is the series of weapons and vehicles made especially for the Brutes. This group of weapons and vehicles was added to greatly increase weapon variety in Halo 3 and to give the Brutes their very own style of weapon.
[edit] Weapons
- Brute Plasma Rifle: Brute version of the normal Plasma Rifle. It has a higher rate of fire, and overheats faster. Its plasma bolts and body are red, but does the same amount of damage as a regular plasma rifle (better suited for taking down shields). Replaced by the Spiker in Halo 3, but makes a comeback in Halo 3: ODST
- Spiker: This weapon is first seen in 2524. Holding 40 metal spikes which it super heats before firing, it is dual-wieldable and similar to the Needler, minus the homing projectile and mass detonation capabilities. It sports two blades and is slightly stronger than the SMG, however, the spike projectiles it fires move much slower, so when firing long range shots with the Spiker (which is not advised), it may be required to lead the shots.
- Brute Shot: First encountered in Operation: FIRST STRIKE, this grenade launcher is powerful and has a massive blade in place of a stock.
- Gravity Hammer: The Gravity Hammer can alter gravity for a short time to exert massive force on an area or target. Due to its ability to alter the gravity around it, it can deflect rockets and grenades. Only wielded by Brute Chieftains.
- Spike Grenade: A grenade that looks like a WWII German grenade with eight spikes on it. Four large ones are near the top, and four smaller ones are near the middle. The spikes allow it to stick into any surface. Upon detonation, super-heated shrapnel fly out in a conical pattern adjacent to the surface it is attached to.
- Mauler: An alien analogue to a drum fed shotgun, it is less powerful than the Human shotgun but faster reload and with a slightly increased range. Dual-wield.
- Incendiary Grenade: A grenade that, upon impact with a hard surface, converts the casing to liquid form and burns at 2200 °C (3992 °F). Very effective against Flood. Covers the general area of where it was thrown with fire that lasts about 15-25 seconds. Also known as the Firebomb Grenade.
[edit] Vehicles
- Brute Prowler: This vehicle is similar to the UNSC Warthog and to the Separatist Spectre. It has four positions: a driver, gunner and two passengers. The cannon operated by the gunner is the same as the Spectre's gun.
- Chopper: This vehicle has a twin pair of 35mm Auto cannons. Looks a bit like a one wheeled low-rider with rocket boosters. The rider receives no protection whatsoever except from the front. This vehicle can ram things with its front mounted cutting wheels to devastating effect - hence its nickname. To do this, you must use the Chopper's boost ability right before the intended target and the effect will usually be the loss of life of the target. Note: this technique is best used on vehicles as big as or smaller than the Chopper.
