NG101 sorry but are you STUPID?!?Seriously how can a military lose to another one even though it is 566 years more advanced?Even on the ground?
Lol. You're kidding, right?
The UNSC is NOT 500+ years more advanced than modern Earth. The game(s) only takes place 500+ years in the future.
On the ground, the UNSC is using laughable titanium-ceramic composites that provide their soldiers with hardly more protection than what modern armies can do. UNSC weapons aren't that much of a step up, either. The only advantage that the UNSC has in terms of small arms fire is accuracy. An untrained militiaman with a weapon from the MA5 series can hit targets hundreds of meters out. On the contrary, don't expect to hit anything farther than 100 meters away with an M16 on your first time picking up a gun.
Speaking of the M16, I think you should note how the M16 is an outdated rifle. It was designed in 1956and began production in 1959. Even so, the M16 still maintains a higher rate of fire, with a minimum of 700 rounds per minute and a maximum of 900 rounds per minute (compared to the MA5D's pitiful 650 rounds per minute), and a higher muzzle velocity, at 948 meters per second (compared to the MA5D's 792 meters per second.
I'm also sure that you're aware that UNSC weapons use the same ammunition as modern weapons. There is no excuse for the poor performance of UNSC weapon systems. The MA5 series of weapons has a slower fire rate, slower muzzle velocity, and consistently imparts less kinetic energy than a weapon system that is outdated by modern standards.
Want another example? Let's look at the M395 Designated Marksman Rifle is absolutely horrendous when compared with its modern counterpart, the M39 Enhanced Marksman Rifle. The M395 has a muzzle velocity of 792 m/s, firing 7.62x51mm NATO rounds at a rate of 165 rounds per minute. The modern M39 EMR, on the other hand, is firing the very same round at, with a muzzle velocity of 865m/s at a rate of 750 rounds per minute.
If you were to put a Modern USMC rifleman and a UNSC rifleman next to each other, and give each their respective DMRs, assuming every shot they fire is a kill, then the United States Marine will kill 750 enemies in the time that it takes the UNSC Marine to kill 165. Not to mention that M39 is putting more kinetic energy down range, meaning it's capable of killing tougher targets than the M395
And don't even get me started on the UNSC's ground vehicles. The mongoose? Seriously? What military application could that thing possible have that couldn't be completed by a DPV ? While the mongoose is barely pulling 60 miles per hour, the Army's DPV can pull 80 miles per hour while carrying a two man crew and mounted with a .50 Caliber machine gun, two M60 machine guns, and two AT4 anti-armor launchers.
Do I even need to explain why the Warthog sucks? The Warthog leaves all of its occupants completely exposed, and its speed is topping off at 78 mph. The HMMWV (Humvee), a horrendously outdated piece of machinery that the US Military is currently replacing, in stock form is armored from almost all small arms fire. The main threat to the Humvee would be anti-armor weapons and landmines (which would easily dispatch any Warthog). The Humvee can also be armed with a variety of systems, from being a dedicated field ambulance or troop carrier, to having a simple machine gun, to carrying surface-to-air rockets and artillery.
So all of this gear and armor makes for a nearly 6 (metric) ton vehicle capable of reaching 75 mph. Keep in mind that the Warthog is 3 metric tons, half the weight of a Humvee, and is only reaching 78 mph. With little to no armor and half the weight of a Humvee, it is inexcusable that the Warthog can only reach a speed three mph faster than a Humvee.
But that's not it. The Banks Upgraded Humvee is capable of safely reaching 87 MPH, and even speeds up to 95 MPH, all with the same armor and armament.
And the Scorpion Tank...
Don't get me wrong, all those on board computers are nice, as it allows for one-man tank crews. But the Scorpion sucks. From what we've seen, the muzzle velocity of its cannon isn't any more than modern tanks, and the Scorpion only fires 90 mm shells. The M1A2 Abrams MBT fires 120mm shells.
The Scorpion is outgunned.
As for speed? The Scorpion tops off at 33 mph. The M1A2 can reach 42 mph.
The Scorpion can't keep up.
The Scorpion is stupidly easy target, too. The Scorpion would be just fine as a Light Tank. But the UNSC uses it as an MBT. Quite frankly, the thing is too large to be a light tank, anyways. It's nearly twice as large as the M1A2 (and it's also slower and has a lighter armament). Also, Chobham Armor > Titanium the Scorpion uses.
If the UNSC were to engage the United States on the ground in even numbers, there is only one reason that the UNSC could win. The air.
UNSC Longswords, Shortswords, Broadswords, and Pelicans will dominate the airspace. All of which are too fast for us to compete with. The Longsword is the size of jumbo jet, with weapons the size of tank guns, and the UNSC uses it as a dogfighter. The Broadsword's acceleration is so stupidly fast that inertia dictates that a single bullet from the gun of a Broadsword would let out around the same, if not more, energy than the nukes that were detonated at Nagasaki and Hiroshima
Without the air advantage, the UNSC would be raped.
