Merging and Listing

I've started noticing over the last couple months that we have a number of articles devouted to minor subjects that we will never add meaningful to. For example, let's look at the ship articles

UNSC Saratoga is 2719 bytes long. Just over 800 of this is necessary - the rest is an inaccurate infobox, some redundant templates and a gallery. What do we know about the Saratoga? It was next to Grafton at one point in its career.

How about characters? Here's Druss. From what we learn in the storyline, he's a young Jiralhanae. Nothing more than a mention of him existing - he adds nothing to the story, itself, and just serves as a reason why most older Jiralhanae have -us added to their names. Again, most of this is the infobox.

I find these such articles …

Correcting some mistakes - part 1

Hi, Forerunner here. I'd like to dedicate this blog series in correcting some inaccuracies the community seems to make a lot and encourage them to remove them when found. This blog will be dedicated to slipspace.

Answer: No. The vessel that Lieutenant Wagner used to get from Reach to Earth took some five days. While this does total at an approximate close to this answer, it should be disregarded on all other ship articles. The reason for this is because, according to Halo: Contact Harvest, the slipspace drive is not used to accelerate in slipstream space; conventional engines are used, instead. Based on this it can be assumed that vessels with more powerful engines will travel this same route much faster than others. Therefore we cannot use …

Top 10 lists

Forerunner and myself were discussing a new application for HaloNation, Top 10 Lists!
This blog is to measure the amount of support for this.

Lets say I want to know who people think is the best SPARTAN-II, I start a Top 10 List named: "Top 10 SPARTAN-IIs". Then I have to fill in all the names of SPARTANS I want to test, lets say I only want to know the best between John-117, Kurt-051 or Frederic-104 (Just an example, you can add as many names as you'd like.).
Now, let's say I really like Kurt, I vote for him.
Someone else thinks John is the best, (s)he votes for him and so on. Remember that you can only vote once to keep it fair. After a certain amount of people have voted there should be a pretty good image what the community thinks about th…

From the beginning, you know the end

It's been over a year since Bungie released Halo: Reach. This game is their swan song and is supposedly the best Halo of all.

In some ways, it really is the best Halo. Halo: Reach stays true to the Halo formula while including tweaks (such as Armor Abilities). The campaign is compelling and the multiplayer is a blast. Forge 2.0 is absolutely amazing and Firefight is significantly improved. Theater hasn't changed much but is still extremely useful and enjoyable.

However, no game is perfect, and Reach has plenty of flaws. Let's start, shall we? :)

  • 1 Campaign
  • 2 Multiplayer
  • 3 Firefight
  • 4 Forge
  • 5 Theater
  • 6 Conclusion

Halo: Reach's campaign is arguably the most compelling and tragic. Planet Reach is invaded by the Covenant, and Noble Team must defend it.

Carter. Noble One.…

Reform

Hi - Forerunner, here!

I decided to write this blog post as a way of making sure that enough of you know of the reforms we are planning to make editing a better experience for everyone. We propose a constitution to make your treatment much more fairer. We propose aspects such as a fully-codified constitution to allow users to know what it is they can and cannot do and better management of wiki pages (no unnecessary locking of articles).

We also support A properly-managed administration, with a much greater administrator and rollback user size, and a more defined relationship between the administration and the user population.

Vote now on the first of our referendums on the Protection of pages while you still have a chance. You have the abilit…

Welcome to Reach!

General James Peterson looked at the display before him, which revealed the two dozen sectors of the planet Reach that were under attack. The Covenant - they had just come out of nowhere, from inside that damned Corvette of theirs, millions of them had just fallen out of the skies and started to pillage the surface of Reach, killing hundreds, if not already thousands of soldiers and civilians. Peterson looked over at the position of a full company of ODST's, who were defending a critical UNSC relay station. He looked at the casualty marker, and it indicated that so far only six troopers had died in battle, but it was still another number of human lives lost. Peterson looked over at one of his officers, a young ONI lieutenant, and called hi…

RE: Blog posts

It has come to the attention of the Cabel Administration that many blogs have been made in the past few weeks that do not follow the Blog policy on this Wikia. As a result of this, the Administrative team (with yours truly writing this) has decided to remind the community of the rules and mention that the policy will be enforced - and repeated offenses will result in a short ban.

The Halo Nation blog policy reads as follows:

Users must abide by ALL of the following guidelines:

  1. In compliance with wiki etiquette
  2. Must have a minimum length of two paragraphs or more, complete with good grammar and spelling.
  3. Have a thesis or purpose.
  4. Be understandable to the average user.
  5. Not include any advertisements whatsoever.
  6. Blog comments will have a minimum of five …

First In (part II)

The sergeant, who's identification badge read: Sanchez, rolled forward and got back up to his knees behind a another wrecked Warthog, followed by a pair of privates. All three of them ducked, pressed themselves against the Warthog, and then threw frag grenades over their heads. Their were three dull thumps, and a bird like chatter as Jackals were thrown to the ground by the shock wave from the grenades. Sanchez rose up, and began firing with his DMR. “Hell, if any one should get a medal for this fight, then I say it would be that whacky Spartan kid, look at this damned destruction.” Both of the Marines peered over the Warthog, and saw the sight of several fallen Covenant warriors, shattered barriers and downed turrets. Sanchez could stil…

RE:Today's Image Incident

I apologize for lack of details, given I was offline at the time of today's incident, but I will explain to the best of the Administration's knowledge what happened today.

First off:

Earlier today, a user uploaded quite a few very unpleasant images, to which he attached to several mainstream templates. To which, these images were put on a large number of pages across the site. As of a few hours ago, all images and templates in question have been removed or fixed, thanks to quick action on the part of a few outstanding contributors and the Administration.

There are reports that the caches have not updated on all pages, allowing some users to still see the questionable images. To alleviate this problem, please follow the following instructions: …
