The Beta-5 Division Ordnance Testing Facility, also known as Ordnance Testing Facility B5D, is an ONI Beta-5 Division installation in the Swanbourne, Perth district of Western Australia.

HistoryEdit

The facility's personnel designed and tested the Scout[1] and Recon variants of Mjolnir Powered Assault Armor/Mark VI.[2][3][4][5] Previously, the facility had jointly developed the Operator variant of Mjolnir Powered Assault Armor/Mark V with Chalybs Defense Solutions.[6][note 1]

TriviaEdit

  • Facility B5D is also the name of a Bungie.net group and separate forum. The group is based around the Recon armor permutation, but participates and organizes other events not about Recon.
  • It is possible that this facility is a subtle reference to the Australian Special Air Service Regiment, an elite group dedicated to reconnaissance and counterterror operations.

AppearancesEdit

NoteEdit

  1. According to the Armory in Halo: Reach, the Operator armor was developed at the Beta-5 Division Ordnance Testing Facility. According to Halo: The Essential Visual Guide, the armor was developed by Chalybs Defense Solutions and was tested at Chalybs' Testing Preserve. The article assumes that the two organizations jointly developed the armor.
