120mm Ventral Guns

120mm Ventral Guns are weapons equipped to C709 Longsword Interceptor, mounted on the underside of the fighter, mounted on at least a 90 degree swivel. They are able to be retracted into the hull. The gun shells are 10mm higher caliber than its main cannons, and presumably do more damage, however, they may simply be of a lower velocity and/or munitions type- more effective in ground attack and close-engagement combat situations.

During the capture of Ascendant Justice by UNSC survivors of the Battle of Installation 04, the 120mm Ventral Guns were used to clear the hangar they had landed in of a "legion" of Unggoy, with the shells cutting through unshielded fighters, fuel pods, and the Covenant defenders with ease.^[1]
